How can I block light from my window? Light comes around curtains?

How can I block light from my window without using aluminum foil? I have curtains but the strong security light outside still comes in around them. I don’t own my place so I can’t remove curtains.
I also want to be able to have full light during the day

Go to a fabric store. They will have stuff called “Black out fabric” Usually its white or beige on both sides but it has a black rubbery layer in the middle. No light will get through it. None.

The same place should be able to hook you up with some clip on curtain hooks/rings. Get enough fabric to go 1 and 1/2 times the width of your window.

At the edges of the window you can use a couple thumb tacks, tape or Velcro to seal it tight to the frame if need be.

You should be able to put this on the same curtain rod as what’s already there as a liner. Put the blackout fabric on the window side and keep the nicer curtains on the room side.
