What goes well with brown sofas?
My walls are a tan (Broome by Ralph Lauren), my carpet is a tan sand, and my sofa are brown. My coffee table and end tables are black metal legs with several tons of stone tiles with clay, gray slats, green curry and color yellowish. I want to add my sofa cushions, but cannot figure out what looks best. Turquoise has been thought and cream, but no turquoise in the tables of stone, also thought sage green as an accent or dark blue denim. What do you think? Would post a picture but it lacks a camera that works this time …. Any thoughts or creative ideas appreciated! Thank you
It would be a good idea to get a color wheel. Your three primary colors: blue, yellow and red. From these you your secondary colors: orange (red + yellow), green (blue + yellow) and purple (red + blue). In very simple terms, often colors opposite each other on the color wheel look good. For example, a pillow of bright yellow on a blue sofa adds a touch of drama. Orange is a color nice to brown if you want to keep the family warm even. If you mix a secondary color (orange, purple or green) with a primary color (blue, red or yellow) you can get muddy if you're not careful. Then there are the neutrals: white, black and gray. Browny tones such as your diet is considered neutral as well. Turquoise and cream may seem nice to your couch, but the fabrics you choose will also depend on the style of sofa. I think turquoise and the cream will "match", but they will not make it "pop!" as give a visual boost. Go for scarlet, bright yellow or orange, or perhaps a green apple crisp If you want to make it visually "pop!" Also consider the texture, like plush pillows and a fur launch in multiple colors. Gold and green go well with the system too. Hope that helps!
